Following independence in 1966, the protectorate adopted the new name Botswana, which translates to "land of the Tswana." Botswana is a landlocked country located in Southern Africa, bordered by South Africa to the south, Namibia to the west, Zambia to the north, and Zimbabwe to the northeast. The country's diverse landscape includes the Kalahari Desert, the Okavango Delta, and the Chobe National Park.
