Zambia
Untamed Wilderness and Authentic Safari Experiences
Zambia, a land of true wilderness and breathtaking natural beauty, offers an unparalleled safari experience. With its vast national parks, mighty rivers, and diverse wildlife, Zambia is a haven for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. It has very low visitor numbers, even in the high season, with small lodges and camps, sometimes with just 5-6 rooms or tents. The tracking in Zambia is excellent, with highly experienced rangers and guides, and walking Safaris are some of the best you will find in the whole of Africa.
Explore the iconic South Luangwa National Park, home of the walking Safari and with an abundance of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, and giraffes. Discover the remote and pristine wilderness of North Luangwa, where you can witness the beauty of nature undisturbed in only a few small camps, across vast expanses of habitat. Or head for Kafue, one of the largest national parks in Africa, with a distinctly wild and off-the-beaten-track feel to it, yet more easily accessible and a great opportunity to combine with a visit to North or South Luangwa.
Experience the thrill of canoeing or boating on the Zambezi River, home to hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birdlife. Marvel at the majestic Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
Our Quick Guide to Zambia
Best time to visit Zambia
The best time to visit Zambia is during the dry season between May/June and October/November. Blue skies welcome you, the days are hot, and the nights are cool. See our Zambia Travel Essentials page for more detailed information.
Getting Around:
We always recommend and arrange transfers by road or scheduled flights that connect the national parks and lodges via a network of small regional airports. Transfers will be included in our proposal and the method of transports detailed out, along with approximate travelling times.
Access into Zambia is invariably via Lusaka, by connecting flights via the Gulf carriers or Johannesburg. Livingstone, the gateway to Victoria Falls, is accessible from Lusaka and Johannesburg. Where time can be saved, and there is the option, we might propose chartered light aircraft transfers, which can save a day's travel, or an overnight stay in Lusaka, when travelling from one region to another.
