Explore the Okavango Delta: Botswana's Natural Wonder

Okavango Delta, Botswana

The Okavango Delta, a unique inland river delta in the Kalahari Desert, is fed by the Angolan highlands. During the summer months (January-February), heavy rainfall causes the Okavango River to swell and overflow, sending a surge of water 1,200 km (750 mi) across the desert. Over four months (March-June), this floodwater transforms the delta into a vast network of channels, lagoons, and islands, creating a breathtaking ecosystem teeming with wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, and hippos. This incredible spectacle makes it one of Botswana's most popular tourist destinations.
