Climate change is devastating this precious UNESCO World Heritage site. Learn how you can help.

Okavango Delta
The Okavango Delta, a unique and vital ecosystem, is facing an unprecedented threat from climate change. Years of sustained drought and increasingly frequent, intense fires are shrinking the Delta, endangering its incredible biodiversity and the communities that depend on it. If climate change is not addressed, the Okavango Delta could dry up completely within the next few decades.
Drought
Reduced rainfall in the Angolan highlands, the source of the Okavango River, is causing significantly lower water flow into the Delta.
Fires
More frequent and intense fires are destroying vegetation, releasing carbon dioxide, and hindering the Delta's recovery.
Biodiversity Loss
The shrinking Delta threatens the survival of countless plant and animal species, many of which are unique to this region.
