Their custom-designed boutique glamping tents are fully furnished with everything you need for a comfortable self-catering stay – from the well-equipped kitchens to the spacious showers. You can experience the freedom and beauty of the great outdoors, without compromising on the comforts you love. The tents are suitable for everyone, whether close friends, couples or families.

Each tent includes:

AfriCamps at Doolhof is located within the award-winning Doolhof Wine Estate, a short drive from the picturesque town of Wellington and only 50 minutes from Cape Town. Situated beneath the historic Bainskloof Pass at the foothills of the Groenberg Mountain Range, the six boutique glamping tents are surrounded by stunning nature. With the vineyards behind you, the glorious mountain views in front of you, and the soothing Kromme River sounds filling the air, you are in for a peaceful retreat, best enjoyed from the private outdoor wood-fired hot tub right next to your tent.

Activities on the estate include a vineyard hike, river walk, mountain biking trails that start on the property, a kids mountain bike trail, the tasting room where you can sample some of the estate's award-winning wines along with a platter. You can enjoy a selection of spa treatments from the comfort and privacy of your own tent, (prior booking required). Don't miss a visit to the tasting room and take a few bottles with you to accompany dinner!

This lovely old building sums up the historic charm of historic Stellenbosch, made up of two adjacent houses set on the banks of the Eerste River. The pretty gardens are a lovely place to relax and unwind after a busy day sightseeing and you're just a stone's throw away from the fashionable restaurants, galleries and shops in town. Aside from winery visits, you'll find plenty of things to do, from museums and markets to botanical gardens and shopping. If you're feeling really adventurous you can even do a helicopter flight over the Franschhoek Valley. At the hotel, you'll find an onsite spa as well as a swimming pool. The comfortable rooms are all air conditioned and have television, WiFi, safe as well as tea and coffee making facilities.

These are based on our personal experience of the hotel, camp or lodge and should not be compared against ratings you find elsewhere. We intend to guide you and don’t be put off by a low tent rating as some of our favourites fall into the 2 and 3-tent categories.​

It is also important to bear in mind that standards vary from country to country and a 4-tent hotel in South Africa cannot be compared with a 4-tent hotel in another part of the world.
