Okavango Delta

This unique safari camp is situated on the remote Nxaragha Island. This hidden treasure, in the heart of the permanent Okavango Delta, assures its guests of an unparalleled year-round water wilderness experience.

Camp Okavango’s main area comprises of a network of interconnected walkways linking up two lounge areas, a dining room, a library, a self-service bar and a curio shop. Sweeping ramps lead to the lower-level deck with two open-air fire pits and comfortable seating areas to relax and take in the natural surroundings. There is a third deck with a rim-flow swimming pool and a thatched lounge deck for those warm summer days.

There are eleven intimate safari suites and one Family suite consisting of two bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom, Wi-Fi, fan and tea and coffee-making facilities. Each of the guest suites has been built on individual raised wooden platforms and set beneath the thick Okavango Delta vegetation. For stays of 3 nights or more, enjoy a night sleeping under the stars with a night for 2 on the sleep out deck.

Activities include bird watching, boat trips, game drives, fishing, and walks as well as the most memorable Okavango trip exploring the waterways in a traditional mokoro.

This charming hotel has been created from two historic buildings on the seafront of the capital Stone Town. Much of the original architecture has been retained, giving you a feel of the feel of bygone days. The whole of Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and exploring its winding streets is a must. The friendly staff and bright décor make this a popular place to stay before or after a safari. You’ll find a swimming pool, restaurant, bar and gift shop, if you don’t want to head into town there is a restaurant which is known for its Tanzanian dishes as well as international-style food. There’s a pool bar and lounge bar if you fancy a tipple. These are based on our personal experience of the hotel, camp or lodge and should not be compared against ratings you find elsewhere. We intend to guide you and don’t be put off by a low tent rating as some of our favourites fall into the 2 and 3-tent categories.​
