Chundu Island

Chundu Island

Victoria Falls

Perhaps Chundu’s best asset is its location. Chundu Island is located in the heart of the Zambezi National Park, only 21 km from Zimbabwe’s majestic Victoria Falls. The island is superbly positioned on the Zambezi River and only accessible by boat.

In contrast with the hustle and bustle of Vic Falls, a town that caters to both the adrenaline junkies and the curious, indulge instead in deliciously chilled island life.  Chundu Island is a lodge with sole access to the beautiful 1.4 km long island on the mighty Zambezi River, and is a completely different way of experiencing both river life and the Victoria Falls.

There is a lot to do both on the water and on land:  Glorious sunset cruises with snacks and cocktails, the contrasting thrill and peace of canoeing on the river, bird watching, fishing, visiting Victoria Falls, exciting game drives and bush walks in the Zambezi National Park, all under the direction and care of professional and experienced guides.

The lodge is built in among the trees and has spacious rooms with fabulous views over the river into the Zambezi National Park or the banks of the river on the Zambian side. All rooms are attractively furnished and have outdoor shower and a deck with views over the river. There’s a restaurant and bar, swimming pool and plenty space to relax between adventures.

How our Tent Ratings work

These are based on our personal experience of the hotel, camp or lodge and should not be compared against ratings you find elsewhere. We intend to guide you and don’t be put off by a low tent rating as some of our favourites fall into the 2 and 3-tent categories.

It is also important to bear in mind that standards vary from country to country and a 4-tent hotel in South Africa cannot be compared with a 4-tent hotel in another part of the world.

To summarise our grading system, we have considered the following.
