Musango Safari Camp

Musango Safari Camp

Lake Kariba

Sitting just off the shoreline of the lesser-known, and therefore peaceful Matusadona National Park, the camp is accessible by a short flight from Victoria Falls or Harare to Bumi Hills. Its remote beauty, and being family run, make it a firm favourite with those seeking comfort and relaxation.

Activities from the camp are tailored to provide an unrivalled experience, and there is so much to do you may well want to stay longer, or come back another time. Join the experienced and highly trained guides on walking safaris, ’Big 5’ game drives, bird watching, fishing on Lake Kariba, beach combing, stargazing, small-boat game-cruises, natural history trails, and many more activities.

Getting out on the water is very much part of the experience, and exploring the many waterways of the area is such a peaceful and relaxing way of getting close to the abundance of wildlife, including birds, that inhabit the area. Whether it is a captivating encounter with elephants on the shoreline or the mesmerizing call of a fish eagle, Musango Safari Camp brings you closer to the untamed beauty of Lake Kariba.

The accommodation at Musango consists of six, twin, luxurious safari tents, each with an en-suite bathroom built of natural stone. Additionally, there are 2 honeymoon suits with small plunge pools and, for families, the camp will put up kid's tents alongside the established tents. All the tented rooms are set in thick forest and face east over the lake, towards the rising sun.

Meals are taken "family style", with all guests on one table, although there is always the option for a more reomantic table.

For the more adventurous, there is "Island Camp", where you can truly get away from civilisation. Ask us for more details!

The lodge is tucked away on volcanic hills with spectacular views of Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru. All cottages are privately located with views of the swimming pool and gardens.

There is a terrace bar for sundowners and relaxing lunches by the pool and there’s a restaurant serving dinner and breakfast. You might like to spend a day in Arusha or Moshi town, walk along the streets, a great chance to pass by a souvenir market for any gifts back home.

Arusha Safari Lodge

Arusha

The lodge is located a short 10 km drive southeast of Anderson Gate and sits in a 5000-hectare private game reserve which shares a border with Etosha National Park.

The main building is surrounded by large, ancient mopane trees in a wild setting. The reception area is reached via a curved wooden walkway that leads through tall grass and around gnarled trees. There is a restaurant, bar and al fresco dining area as well as a stunning arc shaped swimming pool with a sundeck. There is even a private airstrip if you need it. Meals are usually served on the outside deck overlooking the well-frequented waterhole, with the exciting sounds of nocturnal nature as your soundtrack.

The spacious chalets have been thoughtfully located and placed so far apart and aligned so cleverly, that there is no sign of a neighbour. As a result, the rooms offer a high degree of privacy and unobstructed views of the savannah. Each one has a private sundeck with loungers and armchairs, they are all air-conditioned with a fridge, tea and coffee station, outdoor shower hidden in a tree and safe.

Spend the day on game drives where you’ll almost certainly see elephants and rhinos along with a whole host of other wildlife. In the evening grab a good book and relax on your chalet’s terrace while birds are chirping, and zebras are braying in the distance. The perfect spot to admire your special surroundings in the shade of the mopane trees.

How our Tent Ratings work

These are based on our personal experience of the hotel, camp or lodge and should not be compared against ratings you find elsewhere. We intend to guide you and don’t be put off by a low tent rating as some of our favourites fall into the 2 and 3-tent categories.

It is also important to bear in mind that standards vary from country to country and a 4-tent hotel in South Africa cannot be compared with a 4-tent hotel in another part of the world.

To summarise our grading system, we have considered the following.
