Dead Valley Lodge

Sossusvlei

Dead Valley Lodge is in the heart of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, offering excellent access to the iconic Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei. The lodge provides an unforgettable escape into one of the world's most extraordinary landscapes.

Surrounded by towering red dunes and rugged mountains, you have breathtaking panoramic views, it's the perfect base for exploring the desert, and is just a short drive from the entrance gate, allowing early access to see the sunrise over the dunes.

The communal area is made up of a restaurant serving Namibian-style dishes, a bar and a swimming pool all of which are designed to make the most of the lodge's views toward Elim Dune. Activities focus on morning and afternoon nature drives including trips to Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon. This is also a great spot for exploring the dunes on your own.

Each of the 20 air-conditioned chalets is spacious with en-suite bathrooms, and private patios, being inside the park means that if you stay here you can access the park one hour before sunrise and one hour after sunset, giving photographers plenty of opportunities for the perfect shot. As the day draws to a close, gather around the campfire and share stories under the star-studded African sky.

How our Tent Ratings work

These are based on our personal experience of the hotel, camp or lodge and should not be compared against ratings you find elsewhere. We intend to guide you and don’t be put off by a low tent rating as some of our favourites fall into the 2 and 3-tent categories.

It is also important to bear in mind that standards vary from country to country and a 4-tent hotel in South Africa cannot be compared with a 4-tent hotel in another part of the world.

To summarise our grading system, we have considered the following.
