Situated on South Africa's malaria-free Eastern Cape, Kariega Game Reserve spans 11,500 hectares of pristine wilderness and is home to the Big 5 as well as a multitude of African wildlife including hippo, giraffe and zebra. The reserve is also a paradise for birdlife, including resident and migrant birds. The location of the reserve makes it ideal if you are self-driving, alternatively, Port Elizabeth airport is around 1 hour and 20 minutes away.

The Main Lodge offers families, friends and couples a relaxed and friendly environment to enjoy the African bush. The lodge has a restaurant, bar and a swimming pool. All stays include 2 game drives daily, all meals, river cruises and bush walks.

All the log chalets are air-conditioned and have large private viewing decks. Each has a spacious lounge and living area, tea and coffee-making facilities, safety and Wi-Fi.

Garonga is ideally positioned in the greater Makalali Conservancy, west of the Kruger National Park. This private nature reserve boasts the Big 5 and you can take part in the morning and afternoon game drives. In between activities, you can simply relax in the hammock with a good book while watching the grazing impala. You'll find a bar, restaurant, pool and spa as well as a whole array of activities. Activities include Bird Watching, Game Walks, Gourmet Picnics, Sleepouts and much more. There are six tents overlooking a dry riverbed, and have a wooden deck complete with hammock that commands spectacular views.
