The Turbine Hotel

Knysna

Set right on the promenade in Sea Point, this beautiful old hotel is something of a local landmark. This splendid 1920's Cape Dutch building sits between the mountains and the sea. The terrace is the ideal please to sit with a coffee, or something stronger, and watch the world go by and enjoy the vibrant beach scene which is right in front of the hotel.

There's an excellent restaurant and popular courtyard bar, there's also a beautiful spa which is very welcome after a busy day shopping or sightseeing. The rooms all have air conditioning, television, minibar and safe, loft rooms overlook the courtyard or table mountain and classic rooms are equally spacious although do not have a view of the sea.

How our Tent Ratings work

These are based on our personal experience of the hotel, camp or lodge and should not be compared against ratings you find elsewhere. We intend to guide you and don’t be put off by a low tent rating as some of our favourites fall into the 2 and 3-tent categories.

It is also important to bear in mind that standards vary from country to country and a 4-tent hotel in South Africa cannot be compared with a 4-tent hotel in another part of the world.

To summarise our grading system, we have considered the following.
