Chobe

Chobe is famed for its land and water-based game viewing and vast herds of elephants.

Chobe National Park is a vast expanse which stretches from the Zambia/Zimbabwe/Namibian border town of Kasane in the northeast of Botswana, along what is referred to as the Chobe Riverfront and down to the Savute and Linyanti sectors which themselves border the wider Okavango Delta areas. The National Park is so vast that whole migrations take place within it, and the typical ways of exploring are either on the river or on land by 4x4 vehicle. To reach the more remote sectors, light aircraft flights are required, and these serve a network of airstrips from which access to lodges is possible.

Exceptionally rewarding here are the vast elephant herds, which congregate at the river's edge and around waterholes. The big predators dominating Chobe National Park are cheetahs, wild dogs, lions, leopards and hyenas. Along the riverfront, there are countless species of birds along with crocodiles and hippos.

The park is located within the ancestral lands of the San people, one of the oldest cultures on Earth, and visitors have the opportunity to learn about the San's rich heritage, their deep connection to the land, and their traditional way of life.
