Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions, is a small but diverse park offering a mix of habitats including woodlands, grasslands, and swamps. It's a birdwatcher's paradise with over 400 bird species recorded, including flamingos. Visitors can also expect to see elephants, giraffes, hippos and other wildlife. The park is characterised by its namesake lake, the Great Rift Valley escarpment, and dense forests. Its diverse landscape provides a habitat for a wide range of wildlife, making it a popular safari destination.

The best time to visit wildlife viewing is during the dry season (June to October) when animals congregate around the lake and water sources, making them easier to spot. The weather is pleasant, with warm days and cooler nights. The wet season (November to May) offers lush greenery and fewer visitors. While wildlife might be harder to spot, birdwatching is exceptional, with migratory birds flocking to the area.
