Zanzibar and Swahili Coast

Original on transparent_edited (1).png

Zanzibar, a captivating archipelago off the coast of Tanzania, is a dream destination for beach lovers and history enthusiasts alike. Its stunning beaches, with powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters, offer the perfect setting for relaxation and water activities. Visitors can explore the UNESCO-listed Stone Town, a labyrinth of narrow streets, bustling markets, and historic buildings reflecting the island's rich cultural heritage. The archipelago is also renowned for its spice plantations, where visitors can learn about the cultivation of cloves, nutmeg, and other aromatic spices. With its fascinating history, diverse culture, and natural beauty, Zanzibar offers a truly unforgettable experience.

The best time to visit Zanzibar is during the dry season (June to October). In these months, you can expect pleasant weather with warm temperatures and clear skies, which are ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities. The average daytime temperature is around 28°C (82°F), while night-time temperatures are around 20°C (68°F). The wet season (November to May) offers a different experience, with lush greenery and fewer visitors. While there might be occasional rain showers, the temperatures remain warm, with average daytime temperatures around 30°C (86°F) and night-time temperatures around 22°C (72°F).

The Swahili Coast is a term used for the beach which stretches from the capital Dar es Salaam towards Kenya. Here you will find several small beach lodges and island resorts, the ideal stop-off after an active Safari on the Southern Circuit, within reasonable travelling distance of Dar's International Airport. For the avoidance of any confusion, these properties are not on Zanzibar Island, and we will always make this clear to you when booking your beach stay.
