Sarova Stanley

Sarova Stanley

Nairobi

Located in the heart of Nairobi, this is one of Kenya’s most iconic and historic hotels. Established in 1902, it has been a cornerstone of Nairobi’s hospitality scene, hosting royalty, world leaders, and celebrities throughout its history. The hotel blends old-world charm with modern comfort. All the 212 rooms have air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, television, tea and coffee-making facilities and a safe.

There is a restaurant, café, bar, swimming pool on the rooftop, fitness centre, and spa. Enjoy a drink in the stylish Exchange Bar, which is the site of Nairobi’s first stock exchange. There’s plenty to do around the hotel and they’ll be happy to help with organising visits to The Giraffe Centre where you can handfeed the giraffes! There’s also the Karen Blixen Museum, Nairobi National Park, and the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust which are a relatively short distance away.

The Sarova Stanley is more than just a place to stay; it is a landmark that offers a window into Nairobi’s past while providing the comfort of the present. It’s a good choice for your pre or post safari overnight stops in the capital.

How our Tent Ratings work

These are based on our personal experience of the hotel, camp or lodge and should not be compared against ratings you find elsewhere. We intend to guide you and don’t be put off by a low tent rating as some of our favourites fall into the 2 and 3-tent categories.

It is also important to bear in mind that standards vary from country to country and a 4-tent hotel in South Africa cannot be compared with a 4-tent hotel in another part of the world.

To summarise our grading system, we have considered the following.
