Vundo Camp
Mana Pools
Set alongside the Zambezi River, in the heart of the Mana Pools area of northern Zimbabwe, Vundu Camp is a simple but well appointed camp.
The area is famous for its lions, leopards, hyenas, elephants, buffalos and wild dogs, often referred to as painted dogs locally. There are a whole range of activities to take part in from game drives to walking and canoe safaris. There are breathtaking floodplain views from the deck, which is just the place for the perfect holiday snapshot. The open lounge and communal dining area is just the place to stargaze and share your days adventures with fellow travellers.
The lodge owners are wildlife guides and have a wealth of experience which has been passed to their team. This is a very traditional camp with the focus on enjoying the outdoors, seeing great game and enjoying good home cooked food at the end of an exciting day.
Vundu Camp has eight well-appointed large tented chalets, each with stunning views over the river. Outside the front of each is a private seating area with canvas chairs; inside, large wooden beams support a high thatched roof with canvas walls and shade-mesh windows. The chalets are simple in design, and all have very secure mosquito nets covering each twin or double bed, polished concrete floors scattered with rugs, and free-standing fans. Each chalet has an open-air en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet, hot and cold shower and hot and cold running water.
Combine a stay in Vundu Camp with an exceptional camping experinece at their nearby fully-tented camp Little Vundo, where you can enjoy sleeping under canvas in the comfort of a ful service camp.
There’s no Wi-Fi or mobile signal so you can truly relax and be at one with the bush. Sounds idyllic!

How our Tent Ratings work
These are based on our personal experience of the hotel, camp or lodge and should not be compared against ratings you find elsewhere. We intend to guide you and don’t be put off by a low tent rating as some of our favourites fall into the 2 and 3-tent categories.
It is also important to bear in mind that standards vary from country to country and a 4-tent hotel in South Africa cannot be compared with a 4-tent hotel in another part of the world.
To summarise our grading system, we have considered the following.

High in both quality and luxury of experience, and property must have ‘wowed’ us on many levels.
This is our benchmark for excellent service and experience, location and /or activities.
Good relative value, excellent location and/or experience, and offering an ideal base for exploring the area.
Budget-focused stopover property, sometimes it’s the ideal location on a driving itinerary.
Don’t be put off, these stays are comfortable and a perfect pit stop on a journey where the choices may be limited.
